Growing like weeds: What you need to know about expanding cannabis laws

Learn what is happening around cannabis federal policies, state laws, banking and taxes that will affect law practices servicing clients in the cannabis industry.

Program attendees will learn about 2018 marijuana laws impacting recreational and medical use. Discussion will cover topics ranging from criminality issues under federal law, the status of dispensaries, licensing issues, the political and regulatory climate, what is “track and trade” and how to advise clients on following the guidelines on origin tracking. Legal professionals will be advised about exposure as “conspirators” to a federal criminal enterprise.

Attendees will garner a topical overview of statewide and local cannabis laws and the changes effective 2018. Q & A session to follow the update.

Scot Candell

Scot Candell is a frequent speaker on the subject of cannabis law. He started his practice 15 years ago focusing on Medical Marijuana and represents individuals, caregivers, collectives, cooperatives, dispensaries and doctors navigate the complex federal and state laws concerning cannabis.  Scot received his law degree from UC Berkeley School of Law. He lives in Marin with his wife and two kids.
