Welcome to the May Marin Lawyer

By Robert Rosborough
Ever had a client question a bill? We wondered what our members could learn from all of the fee arbitrations MCBA conducts. Our wonderful guest editor this month, Toussaint Bailey, has distilled this wisdom into a cogent article that anyone who has to keep track of their time will want to read. Next, what will the impact of legal recreational marijuana be on the workplace? Sean Gibbons has some clear advice for employers extrapolated from the seminal California Supreme Court case on the use of medical marijuana in the workplace.
We also spotlight #cut50, a non-profit founded by the mayor of Mill Valley to reduce the incarceration rate across the United States. While the organization is bipartisan (who would have thought Newt Gingrich and Alicia Keys would be working together?), we recognize that not all of our members will agree with the organization’s goals or approach. I would like to remind everyone that opinions expressed in all of our articles are those of the authors or subjects, not the MCBA. We welcome all viewpoints in our articles. You should even feel free to write a letter to the Editor!
I hope you enjoy this month’s issue and as always, if you have an idea for an article you think would be of interest to our members, please get in touch with me.
