Training Session for Volunteer Lawyers for LAM Estate Planning Program
Legal Aid of Marin (LAM) in partnership with the Marin County Bar Association (MCBA) is hosting an Estate Planning Clinic on Friday, June 2nd and seeks volunteer attorneys to advise and draft simple wills, powers of attorney, and advanced healthcare directives with Marin Senior participants. The clinic will be hybrid: remote for the first portion and in-person at Vivalon Center in San Rafael for the second portion.
Volunteer attorneys will undergo estate planning basics training on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 PM, where they will be assigned a participant’s matter and receive case-specific triage support prior to the Clinic. Volunteer attorneys need not have any previous estate planning experience, and will receive training, support, and consultation with estate planning attorneys who will supervise their work throughout the Clinic. Participants will be pre-screened and appear at the Estate Planning Clinic ready for the drafting process.
Volunteer attorneys will use Will and Trust templates drafted by LAM, as well as the California Statutory Estate Planning Forms during the drafting process, which supervising attorneys will review prior to document execution. All participating attorneys will receive CLE credit for attending the pre-Clinic training on WED May 31st.
