Join us for Congressman Jared Huffman in a lively discussion moderated by Marin County Superior Court Judge Geoffrey Howard. Congressman Huffman, the ranking member on the House Natural Resources Committee who has represented the 2nd Congressional District in Congress since 2013 and has become a progressive leader on many important issues for those in the North Bay, will share his perspective on recent events in Washington, D.C. and abroad (including the war in Iran) as well as offer his outlook for the remainder of the 119th Congress and the upcoming mid-term elections. The Congressman will also discuss the publication of his new book, No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism, which explores his view of what he sees as a major threat to American democracy, focusing on its impact on science, education, and political stability.

US Congressman Jared Huffman

California's 2nd Congressional District

Jared Huffman represents California's 2nd Congressional District which spans the North Coast of the state, from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border, and includes Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte counties. He was first elected to Congress in November 2012 and now serves as Ranking Member on the Committee on Natural Resources in the 119th Congress. Jared also serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. As the co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, he works to promote sound public policy based on reason, science and moral values, while protecting the secular character of government and championing the value of freedom of thought worldwide.

Judge Geoffrey M. Howard was appointed to the bench in 2014, with his term starting in February 2015. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his law degree from Harvard University Law School.
