The September MCBA Estate Planning, Trust and Probate & Probate Litigation Sections Meeting presentation, International Assets in Estate Planning: Issues for Attorneys, will be held virtually on Wednesday, September 16th from 12:00 to 1:00 PM via a Zoom Webinar.
Cross-border assets can turn even a well-drafted estate plan into a jurisdictional puzzle. In this continuing education program for attorneys, Diego Alvarez Miranda-Ezpeleta will address estate planning issues involving international assets, including real property, business interests, financial accounts, and other holdings located outside the United States. While many California practitioners encounter clients with property in Mexico, this presentation will take a broad look at cross-border planning concerns that can affect families with assets in multiple countries. Attendees will learn practical considerations for identifying foreign assets, coordinating U.S. and non-U.S. planning documents, avoiding unintended tax and probate consequences, and recognizing when local counsel may be needed. This program is designed to help attorneys spot issues early, ask better client intake questions, and provide more informed guidance when estate plans cross borders.
Time will be reserved for questions and discussions.
***For those that are not able to attend but interested in the post-meeting recording, we require that you Register for the Event.
