The MCBA Program Committee along with the Marin County Woman Lawyers (MCWL) invites you to attend a virtual presentation with Justice Carin T. Fujisaki, 1st District Court of Appeal in conversation with Ahtossa Fullerton, MCBA President, to be held on Thursday, March 30 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Note: This will be a Zoom Meeting and your video/picture will appear onscreen in a small box.
Appellate Justice Carin Fujisaki worked at the State Supreme Court for nearly 30 years. Fujisaki worked on the court's Civil Central Staff, in the chambers of now retired Justice Marvin R. Baxter, and as principal attorney to Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye. She always loved research and writing and said working within the court system was an "opportunity for me to fulfill my sense of public service with the strongest skills I had." Outside the courtroom, Fujisaki plays an active role in judicial administration, serving as an advisory member of the Judicial Council, as vice chair of a working group on how the courts can help address the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on homelessness in the state, and as a member of a group charged with addressing bias in court proceedings.
We will discuss Justice Fujisaki's personal trajectory to the bench, eliminating bias in courtroom proceedings, in judicial nominations, and in the community at large.
1.0 CLE will be provided towards Recognition and Elimination of Bias Credits.
***This presentation will not be recorded.***
We look forward to seeing you virtually!
