Membership in MCBA demonstrates your support for the core values of our legal system—equal justice for all through equal access to an independent judicial system. MCBA involves, encourages, and supports bar association members, serves as a liaison to the Marin County courts, educates the community, and enhances access to legal services.
There is no charge to join Barristers for attorneys in practice for ten years or less. The Section provides networking, education, and mentoring opportunities.
Barristers activities also provide a forum for new and young lawyers to develop leadership skills and to interact with judges, experienced attorneys, and other Barristers members.
Mentorship programs are available for our Barristers.
The MCBA Mentorship Program supports the development of relationships for new MCBA members, or those who want to increase their connections within the MCBA and the legal community. The Mentorship Program is based on, but is not limited to, individuals in the Barristers/ Diversity Sections of the MCBA who want to learn more about the Marin legal community, to be introduced to the membership and board, or to cultivate resources for contacts/ practice questions or court experience. The mentorship program will set up mentoring groups in sets of three – Barrister, mid-career, and seasoned lawyer. The Mentorship Program also seeks to promote “reverse-mentorship” whereby more junior lawyers provide guidance to more senior lawyers in new practices, and use of technology, as appropriate.
