Birdnesting: A Child-Centered Solution to Co-Parenting During Separation and Divorce

SPEAKERS
Ann Gold Buscho, Ph.D. | Psychologist, Collaborative Law Coach and Author

Ann will describe what nesting is and how it can help parents who are considering separation or have decided to separate or divorce. Ann will describe a number of different living arrangements, including staying in the family home with a formal nesting plan. Attendees will learn how to identify parents who could nest successfully, and those for whom it is probably not a good option. Ann will present on how to help clients create a realistic nesting and parenting plan. She will discuss ways that nesting can predictably fail. Finally, Ann will talk about how long to nest, and how to help clients end the nesting successfully.

The presentation will be followed by a time for Q&A.

1.0 CLE will be provided.

Speaker Information

Ann Gold Buscho, Ph.D.

Psychologist, Collaborative Law Coach and Author

Ann Buscho, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and has worked with children and families in a private practice in Marin County, California for three decades. Ann’s practice is all things related to divorce, keeping families out of court, co-parenting after divorce, collaborative divorce, helping divorcing parents create parenting plans, and divorce coaching. Working with children, Ann quickly found that many were suffering from their parents’ divorce. The children were carrying the symptoms of the trauma of the divorce for the whole family. Ann’s mission is to help parents divorce respectfully in order to protect their children. Ann has written extensively on this topic for Psychology Today, and her book, The Parent's Guide to Birdnesting, was published in September 2020. Ann’s interest in families and trauma led her to co-found a treatment program for emergency responders and their spouses or partners, First Responder Support Network.
