Megan Thompson, CPA, CVA, CFF

Ms. Thompson is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Psychology. She also attended Santa Clara University where she received a Certificate of Advanced Accounting Proficiency. She has been a CPA since 2008.
Ms. Thompson began working for Michael S. Thompson, CPA/ABV, CVA, MAFF, CFF in 2004 and is currently a partner with Thompson Accounting.
Ms. Thompson is a Certified Valuation Analyst and is certified in Financial Forensics by the AICPA. During her career as a Certified Public Accountant Ms. Thompson has provided financial services to clients in many areas including the preparation of tax and accounting services.
Ms. Thompson has experience in litigation support, including the preparation of business valuations, lost profits and wages, analysis of income available for support, stock option and retirement plan allocations, tracing, Moore/Marsden calculations and Pereira/Van Camp determinations. She is a qualified expert witness.
Ms. Thompson is a current member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In 2012 she was awarded Young Emerging Professional of the Year from the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, in 2014 was awarded Forty Under Forty by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and in 2017 she was awarded the Standing Ovation Award by the Fair Value Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Alex Spaete, CPA-ABV, CITP

Alex is a partner with Stegner McFarlin Spaete LLP. Alex has extensive experience in business valuation, family law forensics, and private industry experience in healthcare and physician compensation. He is a CPA, is Accredited in Business Valuation, and also a Certified Information Technology Professional.
Alex has qualified, testified, and been appointed the court’s expert in most of the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento area counties. He has worked on hundreds of litigation matters primarily involved with family law forensics. Services include marital standard of living determination, income available for support analysis, separate property asset tracings, equity/stock compensation divisions, post-separation accounting, and family law business valuation.
Alex also leads the firm's business valuation practice and has prepared business valuations for the purposes of ESOP reporting, 409A and ASC 718 reporting, estate and gift tax, shareholder buyouts, and marital dissolution. Alex also has additional expertise in IT Security and Compliance with small business focus.
In his free time, he enjoys cooking, wine tasting, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
