Section Estate Planning, Trust and Probate


The Estate Planning and Probate Section covers substantive and procedural law governing trustees, probate estates, guardianships, conservatorship and other matters affecting trusts and estates and administration. The section offers Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and works closely with the bench to improve the administration of justice in the Probate Court.

On February 28, 2023, the Marin County Bar Association held its monthly general meeting with Board member Alex Vahdat interviewing Paul Llewellyn about Paul’s new book, Unshackled: Reimagining the Practice of Law. Paul is the founding partner of Lewis & Llewellyn, a boutique litigation firm in San Francisco and he brings a unique perspective to the topic of reforming the legal profession having studied and practiced law in England before coming to the United States. Relying on that experience, Paul discussed a wide variety of ideas ranging from how law students are trained, the billable hour model, and civility amongst attorneys.

In November, MCBA hosted the third annual virtual Bay Area MCLE Conference, presenting 15 programs which provided over 920 collective hours of CLE credit to the attendees, who overwhelmingly rated the speakers and program content as outstanding. As always, the conference covered a diverse array of topics, which together provided nearly all the specialty CLE credits the State Bar requires.
